Brief History

The College of Agriculture, Golegaon at post Golegaon, Tq. Aundha Dist. Hingoli was started in the year 2012, vide Gr. No. MKV-2011 / 341/ Letter No 80 / 7 - A dated 04.06.2013. The college is located on Jintur - Aundha Nagnath Road, Golegaon, Maharashtra 431705, India at Latitude and Longitude 19.5333450, 76.9922730 respectively.

To materialize this vital and novel idea, Dr. K. P. Gore, Former Hon. Vice-Chancellor of this University had proposed to establish a College of Agriculture at Golegaon. It was sanctioned by the Government of Maharashtra in the year academic 2012 as one of the constituent college of this University to fulfill the academic and practical aspirations of the people of Maharashtra. It is one of the unique and premier institutions perhaps, particularly concern in teaching, research and extension is an important and useful field of Agriculture and also offering B.Sc. (Honours) (Agriculture) degree programme of four years duration including Student READY programme during last  semester.

The course curricular and syllabus of UG programme of B.Sc. (Honours) (Agriculture) is restructured by the Vth Deans Committee of ICAR, New Delhi and to be implemented from the year 2017-18. This degree programme is designed for a period of four years after 12th Science with the credit load of 183 to enable the students to acquire need based and refined knowledge and skills in the field of Agriculture. The credit load of 183 proposed to equate the B.Sc. (Honours) (Agriculture) degree programme.

College of Agriculture, Golegaon was established to educate and disseminate need based agricultural technologies to the farming community of this region. The College is consistently working in Education, Research and Extension field. Highly educated, qualified, teaching faculty, laboratories, planned farm, library etc. are the strength of this college. This college has regular B.Sc. (Agriculture) degree programme of four years with an intake capacity of 60 students.

It is a scientific educational and research institution in the field of agriculture. The main focus is on the conservation and sustainable use of land and animal resources, including traditional agriculture and horticulture, environmental planning, rural development and sustainable development. The College of Agriculture, Golegaon awards B.Sc. degrees in the field of Agriculture.
The college has self contained campus spread over an area of 80.14 ha comprising the College building, play grounds, instructional farm, crop cafeteria, demonstration farm, horticultural fruit crops orchard, medicinal and aromatic plant nursary, polyhouse and shed net houses, farm pond etc.

·         To impart quality higher education in Agriculture to the students for making career in the Agriculture sector, academia or government institutions.
·         To provide basic and applied research in Agriculture for benefit of farmers, industry and stakeholders.
·         The overall objective of this college is to pursue high quality education in academic fields supported by research provided by competent and dedicated staff.

Objective
·         To educate students about research on various components of agricultural technology.
·         To create technical and skilled human resource in the field of agriculture and Agro-based industries  through agricultural education
·         To transfer agricultural technology to the farmers of the region.
·         To develop agricultural technology.

Mission:
·         Personality development of the agricultural graduates for getting best leadership and skilled human resource for the betterment of agriculturist, agriculture and Agro-based industries.

Accomplishment
  Within the short period of time since launching of the College of Agriculture, Golegaon, there is satisfactory development. The college has its own campus spread over an area of 80.14 ha comprising the initial multipurpose blocks, college building with the smart class rooms and laboratories of all the disciplines, instructional farms, crop cafeteria, demonstration farms, horticultural fruit crops orchard, medicinal and aromatic plant nursary, polyhouse, shed net houses and play grounds etc. for the overall development of the admitted students for B.Sc. (Agri.) Degree programme
Student Development at the College directs its educational efforts at fostering the intellect and character of students by integrating in-class and co-curricular experiences. To accomplish this, the College provides a wide range of educational experiences through programs and activities that complement and support the academic experience in the classroom. Since last five years entrepreneurship skills were developed in 61 students through ELP Programmes and those student completed B.Sc. (Agri.) degree programme successfully.

Faculty Strength
There are twenty eight (28) sanctioned post of the faculties in the different disciplines of College of Agriculture, Golegaon.
Staff evaluation and promotion criteria are well-articulated. Hiring and promotion for academic positions have so far been followed as per the grading system developed by ICAR.
